Ora Drive Bridge

1609-1611 Ora Drive in Perdido Bay

A weight-restricted wooden bridge was limiting access for emergency vehicles, heavy equipment and everyday residents in the neighborhood. Pennies funded the replacement of the aging, wooden Ora Drive Bridge with a modern structure using Geosynthetic Reinforced Soil – Integrated Bridge System (GRS-IBS) technology. Completed in April 2017, the project included:

  • Full replacement of the weight-restricted wooden bridge with a durable new structure

  • Use of GRS-IBS technology, a modern approach that provides a stronger, longer-lasting crossing

  • Construction completed in two phases to maintain neighborhood access throughout the project

A safe, reliable bridge is essential infrastructure, and this replacement ensures residents in the surrounding neighborhood have a weight-bearing crossing built to last.
